"Information about Carpet & Flooring Types we cover"
At RCH Carpets we fit a wide range of carpets suited for different purposes, we will always make recommendations on the best carpets suitable to your home, dwelling or office / commercial space. Some carpets are better suited to high traffic environments then others, for example, in commercial sectors we usually recommend the use of short pile carpets or tiles as they are more hardwearing and easier to keep clean.
Around the home where luxury and comfort is a priority, you can choose from a wide range of carpets from 80/20 twist (80% wool, 20% man-made fibre) and 100% Polypropylene (man-made fibre) which is much easier to clean then wool.
Popular carpets around the home include:
Hessian Back (Hardwearing and durable), Feltback (Budget Carpet, not as durable), Loop pile (hard wearing and suitable for stairs but harder to maintain with pets), twist pile which is easier to maintain with pets and hardwearing, waffleback (suitable for bathrooms).
For offices, schools, industrial and commercial properties we recommend the use of tiles as they are hardwearing, cost effective and easy to replace when damaged, they do not require underlay or high maintenance.
Another type of carpet suitable for offices or commercial applications includes needlepunch carpet which is a sheet of carpet instead of tiles (it is hardwearing, low maintenance, cost effective).
We also supply and fit real wood, laminate flooring, karndean, altro and vinyl. Real wood is popular for homes and prestige estates, cottages and traditional properties. Real wood is more expensive but adds a premium feel and character to any property, however, real wood requires maintenance and wood treatment to prevent damage, decay, water ingress and other potential issues.
Altro is a non-slip flooring that we fit in areas such as care homes, hospitals, dentists, wet rooms and other areas where hygiene is essential and where the flooring should not be able to absorb any liquids. Altro is hard wearing and easy to clean but can be more expensive initially, but often saves money in the long run.
Karndean is an LVT tile which is hardwearing, has been known to survive flooding within a property. It is commonly found in homes, residential properties, and commercial properties. It is a versatile flooring in that it does not absorb liquid, it can have appearances ranging from wood flooring to slate and tiles and can be a self-designed floor (with consultation).
Vinyl flooring can be found in the home and is most popular in kitchens and bathrooms as it is a non-absorbent flooring that can come with patterns. It can also be found in sitting rooms and lounges when it is given a real wood effect, however it does require screeding and plying if the sub floor isn’t satisfactory when it comes to fitting.
